WALK IT OFF was so much fun because of these four fine young fellows:

Liam MacDonald a wonderful percussionist and a relatively new friend. We spent a weekend at a guitar workshop in Crescent Beach, BC a few years ago. We had never played live together until this recording. I’ve always loved the sound of congas and Liam fit in perfectly.

John Lee is also a new friend. We have played a few gigs over the past few years. He is a superb bassist! Just listen to his solos, they are scary good and he’s always smiling and is a pure joy to play with.

Miles and I go back 20 years. His encouragement and gentle push has always moved me forward musically. He never judges. He teaches
by example and inviting me to come and play at his studio just for the joy of it is something I’m very grateful for. His tunes Yvonne and Silver Dollar added so much to the feel of this recording. Thank you Miles!

Last but not least “Bleach Head The Wonder Kid.” He just gets things done period. What a trip it has been as his father watching him succeed in this crazy business. Of course, we disagree a lot, and sometimes the fighting ends up being more fun than the getting along. I am however, a little worried, as we did not have one dispute while making this recording. Did I mention that he is also a pretty good saxophone player?

A big thank you to John Sellards for the incredible design, Ken Burke for the wonderful work on the sound and to my family; Betty, Noah, Kayley and Alana for making this project possible. A very special thanks to Yvonne DeTroye for your continued support of our jazz efforts.
